Maroon List: 8/19

In the next installment of the Central Michigan maroon list, ChippewaCountry takes a look at another ten prospects that have strong interest in joining the twelve current commitments for 2010.

1) QB Dwight Macon, Steubenville (OH
-The 6-foot, 190 pound quarterback has drawn some criticism for his arm strength early on, but continues to make plays and move the chains. He is down to four schools: Central Michigan, Bowling Green, Ball State and Toledo. Macon is thought to be favoring Bowling Green at the moment.

2) LB Steven Mehrer, Dublin (OH) Jerome
-Mehrer currently holds offers from Central Michigan, Bowling Green, Toledo, Buffalo, Indiana, Western Michigan, Kent State, Akron, Northern Illinois, Eastern Michigan and Temple. He appears to be looking for BCS offers and lists Pittsburgh, NC State, Indiana, Marshall and Eastern Michigan as his favorites.

3) RB Leveon Bell, Groveport (OH) Madison
-Bell camped at Central Michigan earlier this summer and although he didn't grab an offer, he. The talented athlete had been flying under the radar, but now holds offers from Bowling Green, Eastern Michigan and Marshall. Ohio State and Michigan are both keeping close tabs on the 6-foot-1, 210 athlete as well. In a report with Greg Ladky of Rivals.com, Bell had the following to say:
"I am going to wait to take official visits," Bell stated. "So far I have only gotten look at Bowling Green, I am going to take officials to Marshall and Eastern Michigan."

Bell said Cincinnati, Iowa, Michigan, and Central Michigan are recruiting him hard.

4) QB Malik Stokes, Philadelphia (PA) Northeast
-Stokes camped at Central Michigan back in June and received an offer shortly thereafter. CMU is currently his only offer even though he drew rave reviews as a sleeper prospect at the Top Gun camp in Florida. The No. 26 ranked pro-style quarterback has CMU high, but not as his favorite right now. Boston College and Pittsburgh are both reportedly very interested.

5) QB Miles Osei Mt. Prospect (IL)
-Another dual threat quarterback who has drawn an offer from Central Michigan is Miles Osei from Mt. Prospect (IL). The 6-foot-1 and 185 pound three star prospects has scholarship offers from Central Michigan, Ball State, Southern Illinois, Navy, Illinois State, Air Force, Akron and Northern Illinois University. The CMU offer just came in August and Osei reportedly has the Chippewas high.
"I received an offer from Central Michigan last week. I've been able to make an unofficial visit and I also went to a one day camp at Central Michigan. I really like the school. I also came away with a good feeling about the coaches and the players there. You can sense that they have a tight knit group and it's a real family feel there. I had a pretty good camp at Central Michigan and it's a very good program that runs an offense that is identical to my school's offense" said Osei in a report by EdgyTim.com.

6) S Peniel Jean, Wellington (FL) Palm Beach
-The talented three star defensive back holds offers from Wisconsin, Maryland, Utah, Central Michigan, Connecticut, Middle Tennessee, Northern Illinois, Marshall, Bowling Green, and Western Michigan. He has recently said that he would like the visit Maryland, Wisconsin, CMU and Utah.

7) RB [db] Dareyon Chance, Ft. Lauderdale (FL) Cardinal Gibbons
-Like 2009 recruit Tim Phillips, running back Dareyon Chance is fighting the physical profile college coaches seem to want. That's not the case for Central Michigan, who offered the 5-foot-5 and 175 pound Chance months ago. Shortly thereafter, Western Michigan and Toledo followed suit. Florida is reportedly showing very strong interest in Chance as well. ChippewaCountry will be getting an update with Chance very soon.

8) S/CB Ryland Ward, Columbus (Ohio) Brookhaven
-While Ward is playing everything close to the vest, its apparent he has been impressed by CMU on his visits to Mount Pleasant. He currently holds offers from Eastern Michigan, Central Michigan and Ohio.
"With Ohio, they have a pretty good staff down there. From the letters and phone calls they seem to have a gameplan of how they can use me in their defense. With Central Michigan, I went down there for a football camp, went on a tour, and my parents are really liking them. They have an outstanding staff. They stress family and that's something I really like. Eastern Michigan is a nice up and coming program from what I've heard" said Ward in an interview with OhioVarsity.com.

9) WR Eddie Lovett, West Palm Beach (FL) Palm Beach Lakes
-A name that is really flying under the radar is Eddie Lovett from Palm Beach Lakes. He won the state title in one of the hurdle events but has drawn limited interest because he has little or no film out from his high school. He can also play in the defensive backfield. Lovett currently does not hold any offers, but look for that to change very soon. Central Michigan has been in close contact and could offer with Southern Mississippi also showing interest.

10) DT Kyle Costigan, Muskego (WI)
-The 6-foot-5 and 265 pound Costigan is an impressive athlete who could also figure in as an offensive tackle or defensive end. He currently holds offers from North Dakota State, Illinois State, North Dakota, Southern Illinois, Northern Iowa and South Dakota. He had limited camp experience this summer due to an injury.
"I was signed up for the Iowa State camp, the Wisconsin camp and the Michigan camp, but I couldn't go to those [because] I sprained my ankle in early June," Costigan said to Rivals.com Analyst Josh Helmholdt.
Due to that, many coaches were unable to work out Costigan and will wait until his senior season to further evaluate him.
