The Bentley Report: Aundrey Walker

THE BENTLEY REPORT
Name: Aundrey Walker
Position: Offensive Tackle
Height: 6-foot-5
Weight: 355 pounds
High School: Cleveland (Ohio) Glenville High School
ABOUT AUNDREY WALKER

Overview: Aundrey Walker could be the most physically intimidating player in the state of Ohio with his herculean size. The 6-foot-5, 355-pounder anchored a massive Glenville offensive line that paved the way for their stable of playmakers. Walker and his colleagues helped the Tarblooders reach the Division I state championship game last season.

Walker has been one of the hottest prospects on the recruiting trail since the season, picking up a multitude of offers from top-tier programs across the country, including Ohio State, USC, Notre Dame, and Penn State, among others. His stellar showing at the U.S. Army All-American Combine helped cement his status as a nationally-coveted prospect.

Strengths: Aundrey has the God given tools that can't be coached. He is an extremely rare kid that has an uncanny blend of size, strength and athletic ability. Aundrey is so far ahead of the curve in his physical development that playing high school football is almost unfair. Walker has exceptional balance and plays with a strong base. He's a very long-armed athlete that knows how to deliver a solid blow. At times, flashes the ability to really play with power. I really enjoy his willingness to impose his will on his opponents. He has every tool needed to develop into a top-flight offensive lineman.

Areas for Improvement: Walker's physical development has been both a blessing and a curse. He is an extremely gifted athlete but remains very raw. He lacks consistent technical play and at times looks sloppy. Walker is very aggressive but hasn't learned how to play under control. His conditioning and weight could also become a concern. Walker will dip his head on contact and miss opponents and his feet are too narrow in the running game. Aundrey definitely plays too high and will have to learn how to play with leverage. He must get pass the idea of being the biggest guy on the field and learn how to become the best football player on the field. At the collegiate level the playing field is much more equal and he will only have success when he learns how to play the game.

Outlook: Aundrey has the tools to become one of the most dominant offensive linemen to ever come out of the state. In order for him to reach his potential he will have to commit himself to learning. It may be a difficult task for a kid that has always been able to get by based purely on physical ability. Being great doesn't just happen, there is a lot of hard work put into it and we will all have to wait and see if Aundrey Walker is up to the task.
